All about Pastel Artists.CA

About US

Pastel Artists.CA was founded in 1989 by a small group of eager pastelists as Pastel Artists of Ontario, Canada. The name changed in 2003 to Pastel Artists Canada to reflect our changing membership.

We incorporated as a not-for-profit organization under the name Pastel Artists.Ca, still expressed as “Pastel Artists Canada” in 2007.

We are a member society of the International Association of Pastel Societies and a sister society to PSEC, Pastel Society of Eastern Canada, which qualifies us to participate in their activities as full members.

Our Mission

Pastel Artists.CA’s aim is to promote public appreciation and knowledge of the soft Pastel medium in Canada; to improve the growth and skills of Canadian artists working in this fine art medium, and to promote fellowship among pastel artists nationally and worldwide.

To accomplish that, we sponsor workshops led by Canadian and other internationally renown instructors, host juried gallery and online exhibitions and maintain membership in good standing with the International Association of Pastel Societies.

Our members also benefit from our quarterly “Purely Pastel” newsletter, in which they are encouraged to share their knowledge and successes; have access to a growing DVD learning library at a greatly reduced cost; as well as access to and listing on our website. We are extremely encouraged by the success of our ICAN conventions and are actively pursuing making this  a “must attend” biennial event.

We invite you to browse our website to learn more about us and explore the resources shared here.

There is no such thing as talent. What they call talent is nothing but the capacity for doing continuous work in the right way
