Meet our JurorS
Christine Camilleri MPAC-EP
Christine has earned membership in Pastel Artists Canada as Eminent Master Pastelist and is a member of the IAPS’s Master Circle. She is also a member of the Canadian Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA), an association that has included Lawren Harris from the Group of Seven and other notable artists over its 80 year history. She has been juried into shows in Canada and the U.S, winning numerous awards over her art career.
Christine’s style is primarily recognized as that of a “colourist”: her use of non-traditional, local colour on animal portraits and landscapes where she can enjoy pastels to their fullest capacity. Her work has been featured in “Artists to Watch”, Pastel Journal 2016 and “Bold and Balanced”, Pastel Journal 2023, on three book covers and art advertisements.
Susan White MPAC
Susan White grew up on the prairies. She completed her foundation year in Fine Art at University of Manitoba. She took many classes and workshops at Alberta University of the Arts and moved to Vancouver Island in 2015.
She currently works exclusively in soft pastel and is very excited by the expressive potential of this luscious medium. Pastels allow her to achieve colour layering and fine details in her realistic wildlife portraits and botanical paintings. Her inspiration is the abundant natural beauty all around her on Vancouver Island.
Susan has a signature designation with the Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA) and has Master Pastelist Signature designation with Pastel Artists Canada (MPAC). Her work has garnered several awards and is held in international collections.
Dave Denson MPAC
Dave Denson’s career in film, primarily in the area of lighting design, provided a strong foundation in understanding the elements of tone, light and contrast which continues to influence his work today. His subject matter consists primarily of cityscapes and intimate
urban scenes from Canada and abroad.
His work draws on a bold palette, intense colour, strong contrast, and an invitation to explore deeper within each painting. Largely self-taught, he is inspired by renowned Vancouver photographer Fred Herzog, whose photos motivate Dave to create authentic and thoughtful representations of urban life.
He is a Signature Member of the Pastel Artists of Canada and an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. His work can be found in numerous private collections.
