Meet Our Jurors
Maria Iva MPAC-EP
Maria Iva (MPAC-EP) is an Ontario landscape artist whose pastel paintings reflect her deep connection to the wilderness. Working en plein air and in the studio, she captures the drama of Ontario’s landscapes—windswept pines, rocky shores, and tranquil waters—through bold color and expressive mark-making. Her work balances accuracy of observation with emotional response, creating paintings that are both vivid and atmospheric. Maria regularly exhibits in juried shows across Canada, and her work is held in private collections nationally and internationally. She is dedicated to advancing pastel as a medium through teaching, mentorship, and personal exploration.
Trish Holmes MPAC
Trish Holmes is a Master Pastellist with Pastel Artists Canada whose work has been recognized nationally and internationally. She was named an “Artist to Watch” in the Pastel Journal after placing in the Pastel 100. Over the years, her artistic journey has ranged from large-scale murals in unique spaces to commissioned portraits, award-winning pastel works, and most recently, charming watercolor pet portraits.
With a lifelong passion for painting, Trish’s art is driven by a love of color, texture, and storytelling. When she isn’t in her studio, she can often be found in her garden, enjoying time with family, or kayaking on the water, always drawing inspiration from the world around her.
Sharon Fox Cranston MPAC
Sharon Fox Cranston, MPAC Sharon Fox Cranston is an award-winning artist currently based in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
