I always enjoyed painting and drawing since I was a small child. My earliest mentor was our family friend Mark Troicky who painted settings for CBC TV in the 1960s & 70s. Even though he lived far away, he supplied me with art books and materials during my childhood.
Although my family enjoyed my art work, my parents steered me away from a career in art. In their opinion it was a hobby not a career.
It was many years later that I returned to my art; primarily watercolours & Chinese Brush painting. At that time, I had a demanding banking career and 3 children to raise so my focus to my art work was greatly time constrained.
I really only began to spend a more serious amount of time on my art during the last few years – starting out in graphite & coloured pencils.
In Nov/24, I joined a weekend workshop taught by the very talented Catherine Sheppard. I loved working with pastels and I knew that I had found my medium!
I love colour and am drawn to wildlife, flowers and scenery that displays colours to its widest spectrum.
Art is not what you see, but what you make others see
