Anu Vedagiri is a dedicated artist whose primary medium is soft pastels. Her journey as an artist has evolved from an academic exploration into a unique dialogue with her audience, capturing the charm and dignity inherent in everyday life from around her. This dialogue is enriched by Anu's meticulous selection of her subject matter, which allows her to juxtapose the mundane with impressions of beauty that transcend thoughts, words, and societal expectations.
Anu is driven by a profound passion for portraying the inherent nobility of individuals immersed in their daily routines. Her work in still life and nature serves as a canvas where she delves into the nuances of shade, depth, and the myriad facets of her surroundings. Moreover, Anu's artistic vision is continually invigorated by the eclectic themes arising from the diverse ideas and expressions that she encounters on a daily basis. These elements seamlessly blend into her work, rendering each piece not merely as art but as an emotive experience.
Anu is an award winning artist in both Canada and the USA. She has achieved her MPAC Signature status in 2020, Chicago Pastel Painters, Signature status in 2021 and the Master Circle status with IAPS in 2022.

9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Full-Day Workshop
This immersive workshop is aimed at pastel artists who are interested in exploring new techniques to enhance depth and realism in their artwork. While a basic understanding of pastels is recommended, the workshop is designed to be accessible to artists at various skill levels who have an interest in expanding their pastel painting techniques.
The all day hands-on session will emphasize on creating vibrant and dimensional paintings by balancing sharp and blurred elements to enhance realism and visual interest.
Using soft pastels on traditional pastel papers as well as drafting film, Anu will walk you through a step-by-step process of layering soft pastels on the two surfaces to create depth and dimension. The workshop is conducted in person and will run for an entire day. The comprehensive format allows artists to experience a complete project from start to finish within the course of the workshop day.
