Gloria has had a life-long interest in drawing and painting. Her enjoyment of hiking and camping led to an appreciation of the outdoor environment and a desire to express her response through painting. She has worked in graphite, pen and ink, and charcoal, and painted in watercolour and acrylics. She found soft pastels suit her painting style, and she now works mainly in this medium.

She works almost exclusively outdoors, creating her paintings on location, with some finishing in the studio. Energized by the outdoor environment, she sees in it the beauty of God’s creation, a beauty of line and form and colour. She seeks to explore that beauty, and to convey her impressions to the viewer.

Gloria has studied painting at Dundas Valley School of Art (Dundas, Ontario), Mohawk College (Hamilton, Ontario), The Banff Centre (Banff, Alberta), and The International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture (Umbria, Italy), as well as at various shorter workshops
